University Child Development Center is the creation of Brenda Milhem and Ellen Williams. Both have roots in the local community with successful tenure at local preschools. Brenda Milhem Brenda Milhem has been teaching/directing preschool since 1980. Her BA work is in PSYC with a minor in child development, which has become her sole endeavor. She was the founder and director of Raleigh Hills Child Care and Preschool in Portland, Oregon and still has great relationships with her former Oregonian preschool families. Brenda was the first director of Los Altos Christian Preschool. During her first four years at LACP the student enrollment grew from seventeen students to one hundred and forty seven students. She attributes this amazing growth to a simple understanding of what children need and faith in God as the real leader of our lives. Brenda and her husband have three grown sons Ellen Williams Ellen Williams is the teacher “extraordinaire”. With a BA in Music, she found her true love in the hearts of children. In addition to her BA she has continued to pursued her AA in child development and has obtained her site Supervisor permit from the State of California. She served on the staff of Montecito for eleven years under the tutelage of Joe Cook. She then taught kindergarten at Canterbury Christian School. In 2001 she became the head teacher at Los Altos Christian Preschool where she served the community until 2008. With an unparalled reputation, her broad experience, insight and intuition are an integral part of UCDC. Ellen and her husband have three grown daughters. Marissa Hsu Marissa has earned her BA in Child Development from San Jose State. She has worked for many years in local preschools and church outreach endeavors involving young children. As a native of Taiwan, she brings a wonderful quality of “the world at our door” to UCDC. Her great love of children and constant smile are a staple of each day. Marissa serves as both educational aide and teacher. At UCDC, our staff believes that the way to God the Father is through Jesus the Son and Him alone. We believe in the Bible as God’s accurate word, and His letter of love for all who will read and believe. We believe in the power and leadership of God’s Holy Spirit. Our prayer is that each day, with each child, we will hear the voice of God leading us since we further believe He is the One who knows each child completely and loves them best.
